With product portfolios diversifying and the challenges of operating a global distribution operation, the Supply & Demand team needed a solution which gave them confidence in the source data and the flexibility to undertake sophisticated modelling and manage the impact of campaigns on inventory.

The Supply & Demand team needed a solution which gave them confidence in the source data and the flexibility to undertake sophisticated modelling and manage the impact of campaigns and other operational initiatives on inventory. With such a complex organisation, an outside team was needed to cut through business as usual and drive the development and migration of multiple line of business solutions including their global planning procurement and production planning modelling and analysis platform.
With the brief to reduce global supply chain risk through improved insight and oversight, Velrada led the design of services and migrated multiple existing data sources into an Azure Cloud SQL environment where it could be analysed and processed to deliver productivity and performance enhancements. We engaged extensively with business owners of this data to define the business rules and relationships that govern the data, as well as the data quality metrics and thresholds that must be met. This resulted in a real-time dashboard that could be used across global functions to perform advanced analytics and reporting, align demand and production plans, and reduce reliance on legacy systems.
While there were no ‘off-the-shelf’ solutions that could provide the breadth of capabilities needed for the new Bulk Wine Planning management platform, the Microsoft 365 enterprise business intelligence stack allowed for the integration of a range of data sources and mobile, real-time access to information across the globe. Integrating Azure Cloud SQL with Power BI dashboards has meant monthly data that previously took more than five days to compile now only takes five minutes; and new data uploaded each week provides a real time view of the supply position as bulk purchase transactions occur or wine reallocation’s or early releases, are undertaken.
