Integrated & Intelligent Operations

Tap into real integrated operations expertise from around the region.

IOC projects represent a huge technical and operational undertaking. Our core team of specialists have designed and implemented multiple IOCs throughout the region for mining (iron ore, gold, coal), engineering (contract mining) and oil and gas companies.

We leverage our experience in program design and delivery, enterprise solutions, infrastructure services and organisational change management to add value to our specific IOC experience to give a unique, integrated view of the overall solution.
Specifically, our experience has given us an understanding of:

  • How the people, process, technology and facility considerations of the entire IOC project lifecycle are essential to the overall success of the engagement.
  • How upfront work on strategy, benefits realisation, detailed design and planning can decrease time to value.
  • The resources value chain outside of an integrated operations setting, and its value in the context of strategy and design work on an IOC engagement.
  • The importance of a focus on collaboration strategy and enabling technology options assessment, which has emerged as a key consideration in our project engagements.
  • How to leverage our cross-industry and client experience to provide a variety of options for IOC design and implementation, taking advantage of best practice and learning from a range of projects.

Integrating our project knowledge to deliver practical outcomes

With significant project experience on integrated and remote operations enablement, including the Rio Tinto Remote Operations Centre in Western Australia, our IOC consulting team have developed a strong appreciation of the key issues and impacts for projects of this type. From a strong business case through to strategy and detailed design and into implementation and the practical considerations of end-to-end business process reengineering and change management. We can provide strategy, solution and implementation support across the entire project lifecycle:

  • Strategy and Design – People, Process and Technology.

Our experience

Velrada's integrated operating centre (IOC) consulting team has developed a significant amount of practical knowledge and intellectual capital; we are in a strong position to help clients at all stages of the IOC lifecycle and able to deliver 'quick-wins' as well as longer term strategy and implementation support with confidence. Our project experience in the IOC space includes:

  • Delivery of a comprehensive Integrated Operations Centre communication and technology detailed design.
  • Enabling a Site Asset Operations Centre (SAOC) on an off-shore remote mine site to support standardisation, collaboration, and operational technologies and services consolidation.
  • Bringing real insight and experience on technical and operational considerations for the feasibility study and business case for a Remote Operations Centre.
  • Leveraging Integrated Operations Centre thinking to deliver value to a 62km long mine site; options for location and technical considerations for a site based Integrated Control facility were quickly identified and requirements tailored to the client's operating environment.
  • Understanding and evaluating the different business models for integrated operations creating a shared understanding of what an Integrated Operating Model meant to the organisation; driving discussion around a tangible and achievable set of objectives and options and de-risking subsequent stages of the project by establishing a shared vision.
  • Scoping and building the business case for the implementation of an internal Technology Immersion Centre that could be used to showcase next generation technologies and previously conceptual working practices to senior project stakeholders, in order to drive innovation in the project and to identify technologies for further extensive piloting.
